Washer & Dryer Service
This weary wife was the advertising mascot for Washer & Dryer Service, a repair service that was located on Electric Boulevard in Avon Lake. The artwork dates from 1961.
Art's Fix-it Shop
This mowing maiden was the 1960 advertising mascot in the phone book ad for Art's Fix-it Shop on Oster Road in Sheffield Village. The company specialized in repairing all types of hand and power mowers, as well as sharpening knives and scissors.
I wonder if she was just starting the mower for her husband or if she was going to handle the task herself?
Art's Fix-it Shop
In 1961, Art's Fix-it Shop upgraded their advertising mascot to this lawn mower lassie. (I hope the lawn mower didn't require as much maintenance as she probably did!) With her short shorts, I'm sure that she caused many a neighbor to walk into a garage door or run his mower into the flower beds.
Despite the fact that her lawn mower looks like it was carved out of a block of wood, she seems to be doing a good job.
El Chico Taco & Pizza Shop
El Chico offered quality Mexican food and pizza for carry out. A spicy combination indeed!
This saucy senorita graced their 1968 phone book ad. El Chico was located at 2914 Grove Avenue in Lorain.
Avon Lumber Company
This curvaceous cutie was the mascot for Avon Lumber Company in their Lorain phone book ad back in 1965. Believe it or not, the headline for the ad was "Smooth Well Stacked Quality Lumber & Building Materials."
This mascot would be a dangerous distraction in an industrial environment like a lumber yard!
Acme Appliance Service
The concerned look on this Annette Funicello lookalike's face tells me that she wishes she called the company that shares a name with Wile E. Coyote's favorite supplier, instead of initiating the repair herself.
Betty's Quality Maintenance
I wonder if her name was "Fifi"?
